Instead of following his family’s racing success, Andy Mahre elected to give up ski racing at the age of 14 and focus on the evolving sport of freeskiing. Since then, he’s left his mark on the sport by emphasizing style over technique, he’s become arguably the best switch skier out there. A near career-ending crash illuminated the pitfalls of park skiing and his desire to be a better all-around skier. Although he may exude a relaxed, laidback approach, Mahre possesses a determination and motivation to succeed.
