A week ago today I went under the knife to get my acl on my right leg re-attached. On the day of surgery, after changing into the surgery gown and confirming which leg was to operated on by writing Yes on the knee, my doctor came in to go over the procedure. To avoid any confusion about which knee it was Dr. Cooley also wrote a Yes! on my right leg.
Throughout our discussion I informed the doctor that my left knee had some funny clicking going on and this is really my chance to get rid of all the problems in my knees and recover 100%. I figured I'd get the first surgery done then get an mri on my left knee and go from there. Right away Dr. Cooly says, "How about I go in and assess the situation and do what I need to do?". Sweet! Sounds good to me. After getting the new work pre-approved by my insurance and both of us once again confirming he will be working on my left knee as well, I'm escorted to the operation room. Once on the table, they bundle me up and start pumping drugs into my system. Within' moments I'm out.
Post Surgery I lay in the recovery room and look down to two numbified and mummified legs. My first thoughts were, "Here we go again!". Dr. Cooley came in and explained what all he did and said he felt very confident everything went as planned and all will heal up nicely. Now only time will tell.
Anyway, I'm on the road to recovery and am in good spirits. My mom was instrumental in my first week of recovery, cooking soups and making cookies, keeping my icing device full of ice and going above and beyond by tidying up... well, actually, totally overhauling and cleaning my house and room. Thank Mom! I can't find half of the things I look for now, but it sure looks great! Aren't mom's the greatest?!
Speaking of injuries and more. As you may or may not know, Shane McConkey died in a ski base-jumping accident recently and Riley Poor damaged his spinal cord in non-ski-related incident. Both of the people and/or families need your support. Both of these people have been inspirational additions to the sport of skiing in their own respects. So please click on their names to make donations or wish them well and/or their familes well. Anything helps.
More people on the injured list with a lot of time on their hands, cheer them up:
Michelle Parker - Knee injury
PK Hunder - Broken back
Jen Hudak - Knee Injury
Candide Thovex - unknown
Hopefully your mom fed you some amazing wine with all of that recovery..... I know this was awhile ago but I thought i would leave my two cents as well....Hope your getting better.
